Inside 4GU is a webinar series where members of the 4GU Community Board share their experiences, insights, and updates to the 4GU Community.  

In the first of the series, Aleks Subic, Chair of the 4GU Community Board, shares his global experience from his roles as President of Aston University in the UK, Chair of a forum at the Global Federation of Competitiveness Councils, and a member of the Australian Prime Minister’s Industry 4.0 Taskforce. Attendees will also have the chance to ask questions.

Aleks Subic

Professor Aleks Subic joined Aston University in 2022 as the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive. Prior to joining Aston he was Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice President at RMIT University, Melbourne. He was also Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Enterprise) at Swinburne University of Technology, and Executive Dean of Engineering at RMIT University, largest Engineering faculty in Australia. Prof Subic is responsible for leading several strategic initiatives, including development of innovation precincts involving universities, industry, business, and government, and driving innovation and investment policy, international education, digital innovation, and civic transformation.

Shruti joined Elsevier in 2013, as part of the start-up Mendeley where she worked as Community Manager and Storyteller. Her past roles include Global Partnerships Manager at Elsevier, Science & Society Programme Manager at Max Planck Institute for Cell Biology and Genetics in Germany, and roles in newspaper journalism in the US. She brings this experience to her current role helping university leaders connect and create a community of practice through the 4th Generation University Community engagement program.
